BUSA Teams!

There are four teams in each league, and each team hosts a home competition. At the competitions, each rider is required to complete a dressage test and a round of show jumps on horses provided by the home team. Usually you are required to ride a different horse for each phase – although the availability of horses may determine otherwise! Before the dressage phase, the team has to decide (argue about!) which member will be riding which horse – always tricky! There is then seven minutes allowed to warm the chosen horse up in, before completing a test involving movements such as simple changes in both canter and trot across the centre line, shallow loops and serpentines and lengthening in both trot and canter. The jumping horses are then chosen and each member is allowed five minutes and three practice fences before completing a round of show jumps (approx 3’)

We have two teams entered into the BUSA leagues this year. The A Team shall compete in the Championship league and the B Team shall be in the Shield League.

The teams for 2006/07 will be selected initially from the weekly lessons. The likely candidates will then go for an assessment lesson elsewhere from which the two teams will be finalised.

The A team shall be competing in the Championship League against Aberystwyth and Swansea.

The first competition is on Wednesday 6th December at Aberystwyth

The B Team shall take on Bristol, UWE, Oxford Brookes and UWE's 3rd team in the Trophy League.

2005/2006

A Team (Championship): Lydia Greenman, Amy Andrews, Charlotte Humphrey, Amy Searle

Team finished 2nd in the Championship league (Bristol, Swansea, UWE). Lydia was the highest placed individual outside of the 1st placed team (Bristol) so went forward to the Championship Regionals which were held at Merrist Wood. She finished 3rd there and qualified for the National Championships held at Fieldhouse Stables, Uttoxeter

B Team (Shield): Louisa Brock, Hannah Rees, James Emtage, Beth Simons, Lucy Kirkpatrick

The team finished 2nd in the Shield League (Plymouth, Bristol Swansea) by the smallest of margins so just missed going through to the Shield Championship. Bristol won the league.

2004/2005

A Team (Championship): Gemma Codner, Lydia Greenman, Li Jones and Hilde Lamo

Team finished 2nd in the Championship league (Bristol, Swansea, UWIC). Lydia and Li were the highest placed individuals outside of the 1st placed team (Bristol) so went forward to the Championship Regionals which were held at Lackham College, Wiltshire.

B Team (Shield): Hannah Edwards Laura Bradbeer, Louisa Brock, Scott, Laura Brown and Katie Mathias.

The team finished 2nd in the Shield League (Bath, RAC and Oxford Brookes) by the smallest of margins so just missed going through to the Shield Championship.
